About Meeta

Hi…I’m Meeta.  I’m the founder of Piping Pot Curry, chief recipe developer, writer, and photographer.

I am a foodie and love to share what I cook with friends and family.  So why not the world?   This is what inspired me to start my blog and share recipes, ingredients, and more.  I firmly believe that each of us has a chef inside; we just need some inspiration to explore the ingredients and create great food. If you are like me and love cooking, start a food blog.

I grew up in Mumbai, a city where food defines culture and is a melting pot of people from all over India.  I currently live in Los Gatos, California. My other passion is traveling, which I will hopefully start writing about someday.

I studied Computer Engineering in Mumbai and then did a Master’s in Management Science from Stanford University. A former Product Specialist by profession, I now enjoy combining my logical and creative minds to share my love for delicious and wholesome food.

My family

I have a wonderful, supportive husband and two cute daughters, ages 12 and 6. My mom has always been an inspiration for my food.  She is an excellent cook and has made the effort to pass down her love for cooking to me and my siblings.

Learning Cooking

From a very young age, I remember the first thing my mom made me and my sister learn to cook was roti (an Indian flatbread similar to a tortilla) for dinner. This is one of the most challenging tasks for many to roll perfectly rounded thin roti. I believe she felt that if we could make good rotis, we would be able to cook well. Now, I believe that is true :-). Guess what? When my daughter was 8, she could do a decent job with rolling roti.

Although I did not have to cook much and was mainly busy with my studies, I did know the basics. I finally got to enjoy cooking after I moved to the USA for work and further studies.

Many of my friends would find cooking challenging, but I felt that was the best and most relaxing part of my day. What I had seen and learnt growing up was so valuable.

Starting Piping Pot Curry

I had always wanted to create something of my own. And when I thought about what truly excited me, food was the first thing that came to mind.

Growing up, I watched delicious meals come together in a pressure cooker — it was a staple in every Indian kitchen. So when the Instant Pot became popular, it felt like the perfect bridge between tradition and modern cooking. I realized I could share the flavors I love in a way that made cooking easier for everyone. That’s how Piping Pot Curry began in 2017 — born from a love of food, family, and a little bit of pressure cooker magic.

Recipe Inspiration

The recipes I create for Piping Pot Curry are deeply personal and inspired by the many flavors, experiences, and people that have shaped my love for food.

My Family & Childhood: Many of my recipes are inspired by the comforting, home-cooked meals I grew up eating; dishes my mom lovingly prepared every day and took the time to teach me.

My Travels: As a family, we love exploring new places, trying new cuisines, and discovering unique ingredients. Having traveled across many countries, I often bring those global influences into my kitchen.

My Community: A big source of inspiration comes from you! I love hearing your ideas, requests, and feedback — they spark new creations and help shape the over 600+ recipes now shared on the site.
